Discounts Offered for UNC Charlotte Continuing Education Courses

Continuing Education course discounts are not layered unless expressly allowed for in a course’s promotional materials – i.e., the single best discount is applied but multiple discounts are not layered on top of one another. 

All discounts are rounded to the nearest dollar. If the discounted amount ends in 0.5 or lower, round down to the nearest dollar to calculate the discounted price. If the discounted amount ends in 0.6 or higher, round up to the nearest dollar to calculate the discounted price. If registering online, the discount you select will calculate the dollar amount automatically. Course sections eligible for a discount will indicate discount options you may choose as a Price Adjustment after you add the course section to your shopping cart. After selecting a discount, click Update and you will see the revised total amount due.


Alumni Perks Discount

Beginning August 26, 2013 members of the UNC Charlotte Alumni Perks Program are eligible for a 10% discount off the FULL PRICE registration fee for many continuing education professional development courses and certificates for adults offered by Extended Academic Programs. If you graduated with a degree from UNC Charlotte and have not yet joined the Alumni Perks Program, visit the Alumni Association website to sign up. The Alumni Perks Program will then provide you with a special coupon code to enter when you register online or by phone at 704-687-8900. Continuing education courses and certificates eligible for the discount will indicate the Alumni Perks Discount option when you add the course section to your shopping cart.

Early Registration Discount

For a course offering an early registration fee, there is a discount of approximately 5% to participants who sign up 2 or more weeks in advance of the course start date. Please see specific course page for details. EMS Rural Discount

A 10% discount is offered for the EMS Management Institute (course # EMS101) to agencies located in rural counties with a population of 35,000 or less. County agencies eligible for the EMS Rural discount must register by phone at 704-687-8900.

Discounts are approximately 50% and may or may not be applicable depending on the particular course. Please call our Registration Center at 704-687-8900 to verify that the course you are interested in qualifies for the Faculty/Staff discount.

Policy Information

According to University Policy #206, Extended Academic Programs is authorized to provide a discount to any "qualified employee" for selected non-credit courses offered by CEESP. 

A "qualified employee" is a current permanent EPA or permanent SPA employee of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte who:

1.   has completed any required period of SPA probationary employment;

2.   is regularly scheduled to work thirty or more hours each week at least nine months of each year;

3.   has obtained the advance written approval of his/her supervisor to enroll in the course, if the course is offered during the employee's normal working hours; and

4.   meets all other requirements for admission to the specific course. 

Please note that University Policy #206 requires you to obtain advance written approval of your supervisor to enroll in the course if the course is offered during your normal working hours. If this applies to your situation, you should contact your supervisor to obtain written approval and then keep a copy of this approval in your personal files for future reference.

The discounts will be effective with courses that begin on or after July 1, 2005.  Please see University Policy #206 for further details.

Registration Information

Faculty and staff may register online or by telephone at 704-687-8900. If your department is paying for the course, please call the Registration Center at 704-687-8900 for registration instructions. The CE Registration Center will determine, as is the case with any course registration, whether the individual meets any prerequisites that might have been set for admission to the course.

The registrant will be required to make payment of the discounted fee under whatever terms are in effect for all payments for the course in question.  In general, CE requires payment at the time of registration.


Confirmation
The course fees are payable in advance. Registration is not complete and will not be confirmed until we receive full payment or company billing information, which will be acknowledged by a receipt or company invoice.
