Requirements

UNC Charlotte’s Office of Continuing Education is part of Extended Academic Programs, the outreach unit of the university serving adult learners, working professionals, corporate clients and non-traditional student audiences. Information on the specific programming areas offered by Continuing Education may be found at ContinuingEd.uncc.edu in the top menu under "What we offer".

Primary program areas include professional development short courses, exam prep programs, certificate programs, and customized corporate training programs delivered to local, regional, and national companies and organizations.

The majority of continuing education teaching assignments are short in duration – ranging from a half-day to 1 day or 2 days in length. Instructors with in-demand skill sets may teach for us multiple times throughout the year. Longer programs leading towards a certificate are taught in day or evening formats or online and can span several weeks or months, depending on the subject matter. Instructors are employed on a contract, per-project basis for specific teaching assignments such as a stand-alone course or teaching a topic within a certificate program along with other instructors.

Required Materials to Submit for Consideration:

  1. Current CV including relevant areas of expertise and specific examples of teaching experience
  2. Relevant Certifications (for example – CFP, CPA, CPC-I, PE, PHR, PMP, SPHR)
  3. Letter of Interest
  4. List of Professional References who can speak to the candidate’s teaching ability

Materials should be sent electronically to: ce-info@uncc.edu.

Candidates selected will be contacted to schedule an interview in-person or by phone. All potential instructors who successfully complete the interview process must present a 30 minute test teach conducted at UNC Charlotte Center City (320 E. 9th Street, Charlotte, NC 28202) to demonstrate their teaching and presentation abilities in front of an audience.

Our programming changes throughout the year in response to demand. Candidates who are not selected for an initial interview may be contacted in the future if a new programming need warrants their skill set.
