From Brendon Treanor, a GMAT Prep Course participant: Just wanted to let you know that my diagnostic test score was 490, and my actual test score was 620; An improvement of 130 points! Thanks for all your help. I am no longer looking at C or B level schools, but will be applying to B and A level schools! Thanks again!
From Will Long, a GMAT Test Prep Course participant: I took the GMAT yesterday and just wanted to thank you for your help and training. It was probably the "by-product of superior instruction," but I did find all the tricks and lessons you gave very helpful. I got a 720 which I am very pleased with. I had hoped to get a 650-670, so I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks again and I just wanted to say that you always kept the classes engaging and enjoyable.
From Ben Cochran, a GMAT Test Prep participant: I must admit, I was thoroughly impressed with the Strategy Workshop that you gave on January 9 -- to the point that, having registered for the course and consequently cancelling it, I immediately re-registered. Having been completely opposed to the very concept of standardized test preparation courses (for, how could one possibly study for standardized material? either you know it or you don't) I never thought I would consider submitting to that which was illogical. But after having witnessed the material presented, I was shocked to learn of the seemingly endless wealth of knowledge of which I was unaware. I now feel confident that the prep course will greatly enhance my score on the GMAT. I am certain that Steve's instruction is the "missing link" which will take my score from good to great.
From Lindsay Jefferson, a GMAT Test Prep Course participant: I just wanted to tell you that I appreciated your course so much! When I took the practice test before your class I scored a 270. I took my actual GMAT today and I scored a 520. So I just wanted to say thank you.
From Christopher Moore, a GMAT Prep Course participant: My baseline test after the first week was a 360. Going in, I knew that I had to prepare rigorously for the Math section and had to get a better grasp of the Verbal to get my score in the desired range of 500+. After taking your class and putting in lot of practice, practice, and more practice, I'm happy to report that I scored a 530 on the GMAT. I have no doubt that I would not have been nearly as successful if it wasn't for you and your prep class. The techniques you taught us helped me to move along quickly, accurately identify the problem, and, when in doubt, just work through it.
From Julie Minton, a GMAT Prep Course participant: I wanted to let you know that I took the GMAT yesterday and did much better than I expected.
I took a practice test after your first class (as homework). I made a 400 - not very good! haha. Now with that said... I am a stay at home mom of 6 years that has not used, thought or even dreamed of a prime number in years! The last time I took such a test was in high school... not even the CPA exam was as difficult. I had no experience with the GMAT and I had no idea what the layout, subjects tested or
difficulty level would be.
Your class was invaluable! My score yesterday was a 570... 70 points above my goal. I would not have been able to achieve my score without your review. I doubt I would have been as successful trying to review on my own as your "sneaky strategies" and "test hints" were very helpful in reducing seemingly hard concepts into quick answers. Also, your organization of the topics eliminates the overwhelming feeling when preparing for the GMAT.
The most important concept that you discuss and I unfortunately did not follow... is TIME MANAGEMENT! I ran out of time with 10 questions left on the math section. I literally ran thru and put d or e for those. I imagine my score would have been a little better had I really adhered to that 2 minute rule. I just got caught up in each question. So for your future students... listen to your teacher! haha. Two
minutes means two minutes.
Thank you so much for a great class. I will highly recommend it to anyone thinking of taking the GMAT... especially for someone like myself who has been out of the academic scene for a while. Thank you again.
From Rebecca Turrell, who attended the weeknight GMAT Prep Course: "I was in your February Monday/Wednesday-night classes (I was the quiet one that never said a word the entire class). On my practice exam I think I scored something like a 440. I just wanted to let you know that I took the [GMAT] exam recently and scored a 630. I really wanted to thank you and let you know how much the class helped me improve. All of the advice you gave worked. Once again, thank you for your help."
From John Harris, a GMAT Prep Course participant: "I was in your weekend GMAT class at UNC Charlotte that finished October 15. I took the GMAT today and got a 710. When I took the practice GMAT seven weeks ago I got a 610. I attribute the dramatic improvement in my score to your course. It was worth every penny!"
From Nicole Baird, a GMAT Prep Course participant: "Steve Shotts is extremely down-to-earth, which allows him to teach his materials in a more jovial way." From Marissa Baird, a GMAT Prep Course participant: "Steve did all things necessary to prepare us for the exam...he was even willing to give us additional attention, outside of class, to prepare for the exam...he is extremely intelligent, with a great sense of humor...I will recommend this course to anyone planning to take the GMAT."
From Michelle Olsen, a GMAT Prep Course participant: "Well, your class did the trick! I am happy to report that I scored a 570 on the GMAT. For your records, my score on the practice GMAT that you assigned the first week of class was 430.Thanks, I could not have done it without your class!"
From a GMAT Test Prep student: "I just wanted to tell you how much your class helped! There were so many problems [on the GMAT exam] where I remember thinking.hmmm.what would Steve do.and it worked!"
