Most individuals were never formally taught thinking skills and, as a result, use processes developed during childhood to reach decisions and solve problems. Thus, in an era of knowledge explosion, performance accountability, and rapid technological changes, managers and leaders still using thinking processes developed before they were twelve years old.
The Power Thinking program offers leaders the information needed to evaluate their current thinking proficiencies, determine areas for improvement, and enhance their thinking skills. As one of America’s most popular leadership development programs for the past decade, the program has been conducted for professionals from corporations and organizations such as IBM, Merrill Lynch, United States Steel, Volkswagen, BB&T, Kraft Foods, Bristol-Myers Squibb, the Federal Reserve, Sprint, the Social Security Administration, Nationwide Insurance, as well as for numerous other businesses, government groups, healthcare providers, school districts, and other entities. Offered in 23 different countries, this program is based on leadership and organizational performance research. The program includes the Yale Assessment of Thinking, a standardized assessment measure that enables readers to determine their abilities in the cognitive domains found to be crucial to being an outstanding leader.
After successfully completing this program, participants have become not only more highly skilled in thinking but also in their effectiveness as leaders. Additionally, the organizations led by these individuals have experienced significant performance improvement after leaders have implemented the content of this program.
The program was co-developed by Dr. John N. Mangieri and Wanda Craig.
