Process Improvement Programs
UNC Charlotte Continuing Education offers a variety of process improvement programs that meet the needs of businesses and individuals striving to achieve their organizational goals.
Program Director Samantha Abt-Bumgarner recently sat down to talk about these specialized process improvement programs. She stated that each of them has distinct outcomes and purposes:
Project Management - This is the discipline of planning, organizing, securing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives. Project Managers typically work on projects that have a beginning and end. This certificate program is offered in the classroom or live online with six courses.
Business Analysis - A business analyst analyzes the organization and design of businesses, government departments, and non-profit organizations. They tend to work as a liaison between IT and Project Management. In fact, some project managers morph into the role of a business analyst. This certificate program is now offered entirely live online program with five courses.
Business Process Management - Business Process Managers will work on processes that seem to transform and change but maybe never end so they are always looking to improve the processes of what's going on within their company or industry. This certificate program is also offered as an entirely live online program with five courses.
Lean Six Sigma - The Lean Six Sigma methodology looks at how operational excellence processes work and how to reduce errors. The Lean Six Sigma Belts offered at UNC Charlotte are offered entirely online and allow you to "work at your own pace." The advanced belts (Green, Black, and Master Black) also come with online coaching included.
"We’ve made quite a few changes coming in the fall… the biggest change for many of our programs is we have moved them from classroom-based courses to completely live online courses… or you may be able to take a mix of both depending on what works for you and your schedule."
