Game-based learning has evolved to the point where students are creating and learning in artificial and virtual realities. But not long ago, games were played on the playground and on boards; with cards and with dice. How do games promote learning? Gaming and critical thinking skills have gone together for as long as games have had a place in classrooms. During this week of camp, students will activate their critical thinking skills in order to play a broad variety of games: card games, puzzles, board games, computer games, videos games, escape rooms, and more. Students will reflect on what thinking skills they need to be effective players and consider how those skills will help them on the road to academic success.
