Course Overview

It has never been more important to learn about the people we inhabit this world with. The planet seems smaller and smaller every year as we connect instantly through social media and modern technology. As we appreciate the traditions and cultures that we personally have, it can be exciting and important to learn about the cultures and celebrations that other people experience. In this camp, we will learn about cultures all over the world, with particular focus on festivals, holidays, and celebrations. This camp will specifically touch on how these cultures celebrate and how we may seem very different, but in the end we are more alike and connected than we are separate and different. This camp may have some guest speakers.

*While we may note that a holiday is a religious holiday, in no way will we be teaching a religion of any kind. We will be learning about celebrations, festivals, and parades. For example, France has a lemon festival every year. We'll learn about foods and traditions, much like the UNCC International Festival showcases and highlights these things.
